Octopus with Wine - Oktapodi me Krasi

1 kilogram octopus -- 2lb
1/3 cup olive oil
1 cup dry red wine
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Wash the octopus and cut it into pieces. Place in a medium uncovered panover low or moderate heat. Cook until all liquid has evaporated. Pour in the oil and the wine. Add the bay leaves and cinnamon and cover.Simmer over the lowest possible heat until the octopus is tender and the sauce has thickened. If the sauce thickens before the octopus is cooked pour in a little water, 1/4 of a cup at a time.
