ORIENTAL CASHEW ASPARAGUS-D

1 lb fresh asparagus -- 500g
trim & bias slice into 1"-2.5cm pieces
1 1/2 cups mushrooms -- quartered
1 med onion -- cut into thin wedges
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper -- capsicum
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp cornstarch
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp teriyaki sauce
1 tbsp dry sherry
2 tbsp cashews -- halved
Place asparagus in steamer basket over, but not touching, gently boiling water.
Cover; reduce heat. Steam for 2 minutes.
Add mushrooms, onion, and red pepper.
Cover; steam for 2 to 5 minutes more or until crisp-tender.
Remove basket; discard liquid.
In the same saucepan, melt butter; stir in cornstarch and pepper.
Add teriyaki sauce, sherry, and 2 tsp water.
Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
Return vegetables to saucepan; toss gently to coat.
Heat through.
