1 inch cinnamon stick
1 tsp cumin seed -- sm black
2 bay leaves
2 tsp cumin seed

Garam masala is a spicy mixture which is always used, either whole or powdered, to flavor curries. In north India garam masala is freshly ground daily. It will remain fresh is stored in an airtight jar. Commercial garam masala I available, also. Rajah is a good brand.
NOTE: Garam Masala is used the same as what westerners know as curry powder.
