The facts on cilantro
Cilantro is a leafy green herb used fresh or dried.
It has similar uses as parsley but a very different flavor and aroma.
The seeds are also used as a spice (usually finely ground).
Cilantro is also called coriander, but usually when referring to the seed or powder.
There is some speculation that the Bible refers to cilantro or coriander as "Manna", the food the Israelites survived on during their time in the desert.
It is used liberally in Middle Eastern, Indian and Oriental cuisines.
Spanish and Caribbean dishes often contain it too.
You can find it at mainstream grocery stores, food co-ops and at most East or
West Indian and Chinese grocery shops.
